Vortex Filters

If you are a serious fish keeper then a vortex filter system is an absolute essential. Vortex filters are without doubt the most simple and efficient koi pond filters available. The way in which the vortex filter works is simple: The water enters the unit at a position which causes the water to slowly spin. This movement pushes all the suspended solids in the water to the sides of the chamber causing them to slow down and drop down the sides of the vortex filter into a steeply sided cone where they are collected.

At the base of the filters is a special drain which is controlled by a slide valve from which the dirt can be removed. Such is the simplicity of the vortex filter that no other cleaning is required! So long as you use the correct size filter, in excess of 80% of the solids entering the chamber can be removed prior to it passing onto the next chamber.
